DESCRIPTION:
Here is a very well built Yamaha AES620 Electric guitar from 2004 made in Korea. These models launched around 2003 and were discontinued in 2007.
Construction and Condition
This solid body, set neck electric guitar features a thick, carved flamed maple top with a lovely translucent Royal Blue finish on a Mahogany back. The set neck is also Mahogany. with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard. The back, sides and neck have a dark translucent Mahogany stained finish.
The Yamaha AES620 features a humbucker set up, with a Yamaha Alnico pickup in the neck, a Duncan Designed JB at the bridge, a three way switch, two volumes and one tone control. The tuners are Grover Roto-Matics. The bridge and tailpiece are specific to the AES620.
A subtle yet useful feature is that the bottom of the guitar has two strap pins. These help protect the guitar if it's set down - it is unlikely to tip to the side, and the finish won't touch the floor.
This Yamaha AES620 example is in overall very good shape with a number of minor cosmetic dings and dents. Fret wear is light and the guitar plays very well.
Sold with a non-original tear drop hard shell case.
Notes About This Model
There is some lack of clarity around the body and neck woods; Yamaha has published in different places, catalogs and press releases, that these are Mahogany or Nato woods. Both woods can look very similar under the darkly tinted finishes.
