INSTRUMENT DESCRIPTION
The Wildwood Paragon 5-string banjo was a high end instrument, introduced in the mid 1970s and produced on order until the builder Mark Platin retired in 2018.
This example likely dates to the early 1980s, with a Walnut neck and resonator. Given its age, it was built at Arcata, California; Wildwood moved to Bend, Oregon around 2007. Wildwood often applied the serial numbers to the registration card, not the banjo, so there is no number on the instrument itself.
This fine instrument is in overall good condition and has recently been set up at The Twelfth Fret repair shop.
Sold with a TKL hard shell case.
Materials and Construction
Following traditional patterns, the Wildwood Paragon is based around a Maple-block rim, Tuba-Phone style tone ring, cast 1-piece flange and one co-ordinator rod. There are 24 tension hooks. The neck and resonator are Walnut, and the fingerboard is Ebony with Mother of Pearl position markers.
