Description
This original, very good condition PRS McCarty 594 Singlecut 10 Top sports a Black Gold Burst finish and was built in Stevensville, Maryland during 2021. It is part of the PRS core line.
While the McCarty 594 mostly follows the standard PRS formula, the '594' gives away a significant departure - the scale length is not the usual 25 inches, it's 24.594 inches. This length is taken from the scale length of many vintage Gibson models (though Gibson advertised them as 24.75 inches), particularly those built during Ted McCarty's tenure at Gibson.
The pickups are "TCI-tuned 58/15 LT humbuckers", which expands to "Tuned Capacitance and Inductance", a 1958 tonal target, the designed completed in 2015, and Low Turn. These pickups are enhanced with coil-splits on the push-pull tone controls.
This guitar is in very good condition though the finish has some honest wear from real use. Fret wear is light. It plays very well, and has a huge array of available tones.
Sold with its original PRS hard shell case, containing paperwork and hang tags.
Materials and Construction
Like many other PRS models, the PRS McCarty 594 Singlecut 10 Top pairs a highly figured, well bookmatched set of flamed maple on a Mahogany body. The neck is Mahogany with a bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard sporting the mother of pearl PRS bird inlays.
Electronics are the pair of TCI-tuned 58/15 LT humbuckers, feeding to individual volume, tone and coil split controls, then to a three-way toggle and an output jack.
Hardware includes a set of PRS designed non-locking, lighter weight tuners with plastic keystone buttons. At the other end, an adjustable bridge with brass saddles and heavier body, and a stop tailpiece. This has top slots for the strings and a mounting system that ensures that the part won't slip and skate across the top when the last string comes off.
