Here is a Polman Octave Mandolin from the 1900s.
Polman generally refers to rare, late-19th-century hybrid stringed instruments distributed by New York importer August Polmann.
An octave mandolin is a larger, lower-pitched member of the mandolin family, typically tuned G-D-A-E, one octave below a standard mandolin. It features four pairs of strings (eight strings total) arranged in courses and produces a rich, resonant tone that bridges the sound of a mandolin and an acoustic guitar. Popular in Celtic, folk, bluegrass, and contemporary acoustic music, the octave mandolin is valued for its warm bass response, strong projection, and versatile accompaniment and melody-playing capabilities.
This example is in good condition with some wear and tear including cosmetic wear and tear and a couple of minor top cracks. It has Brazilian rosewood sides and back. It comes with a non original hardshell case.
