Here is a Pimentel Model 001 classical guitar, dated to December 1975 at Albuquerque New Mexico. It is in overall good condition with some cosmetic wear. It plays well and has a well developed, fully rounded tone.
Materials and Construction
This lovely instrument features a Western Red Cedar top, Mahogany back, sides and linings, Spanish Cedar neck, Rosewood fingerboard and bridge.
Traditional Spanish style construction is used, with the sides fitting into slots into the 'slipper heel' neck block and the back extending to cover the end of the heel.
About the Builder
Lorenzo Pimentel has been building since the 1920's, first working at his family guitar shop in Mexico. He moved to the USA at 23, and opened his own shop in Albuquerque in 1951. In the early 1970's, his sons began working with him and have continued to build a full range of instruments, from student range to professional concert classical and flamenco guitars, steel string acoustic guitars, Requintos, mandolins and ukuleles.
