Built in San Luis Obispo California, the National Resolectric Resophonic Guitar blends the Resophonic and Solidbody electric guitar concepts, to great success.
Very similar in design to the ResoLectric Revolver, the National Resolectric uses the familiar pairing of a flame Maple top on a Mahogany body that’s routed for the resonator and electric pickups, and a bolt-on flame Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard. The headplate is a faux pearl covering. The difference between the Resolectric and the Resolectric Revolver is that the Revolver has no Maple body cap. For hardware, the Resolectric centers around a single National cone with a Highlander piezo pickup with an active pre-amp. The neck pickup is a Lollar P-90, and ‘chicken head’ knobs on the upper bout control volume and tone. A traditional three-way switch selects the pickups. Tuners are vintage style Kluson models, and the tailpiece is a traditional National harp.
These are fantastic guitars for a number of styles – if you need an electric slide or the sense of a resonator guitar, the blend of the cone’s pickup and the thickness of the P-90 are unbeatable. The bolt-on neck design makes for an extremely sturdy, durable and easily adjustable instrument. And this is a National, so it’s very well built.
