Larrivee L-05 Steel String Guitar, 1992 [USED]

The Mahogany L-bodied Larrivee L-05 Steel String Guitar replaced the older L-07 around 1988, and is still in production as an entry level gloss finish model. 

This Larrivee L-05 steel string guitar has a manufacturing date of February 21 1992 at Victoria BC and as such shows some of the evolution of the model, particularly in its appointments.   The rosette is an intermediate design. Larrivee earlier used larger traditional classical style mosaic rosettes, shifting to this with a narrow mosaic ring surrounded by purfling.  In a few years, the mosaic was replaced with Abalone and Mother of Pearl rings.  

This example is in good condition with some honest play wear to the finish and medium to heavy fret wear particularly in the low positions and under the B string.  Still, it plays well and cleanly with a well-developed voice.  

Sold with an arched top hard shell case containing the truss rod wrench and paperwork. 

Construction and Materials

The Larrivee L-05 steel string guitar uses the L-body, developed from Jean Larrivee's experience building classical guitars.   The classically influenced proportions of the L-body provide an even sound with excellent representation throughout the harmonic range.  
Using the same pattern as other L-body guitars, the L-05 pairs a Sitka Spruce top with Central American Mahogany for the sides, back, body blocks, linings and neck.  The bridge and ivoroid-bound fingerboard are Ebony.   The head plate and body binding are Indian Rosewood.  

For hardware, the tuners are Schaller M6 models and the nut and saddle are bone.  There are no installed electronics.
