Description
This Larrivee D-10 12-string was built in Victoria BC. in 1982 and is one of the last examples of the '10' series, featuring the highest grade materials and appointments.
Overall this 44-year old guitar is in good condition. Importantly, the neck angle is very good and the action is low and comfortable with good saddle height. Two top cracks have been repaired. The finish has some wear and a few small dings and dents from actual use. It's a full sounding guitar with plenty of presence and volume.
A black hard shell case is included, and it contains a Dampit humidifier.
Construction and Materials
Using a Dreadnought body rather than the classical-derived 'L' body, the Larrivee D-10 12 string uses all solid woods. The top is Sitka Spruce, the sides back and head plate are Indian Rosewood, the body blocks, linings and neck are Mahogany. The bridge and bound fingerboard are Ebony. Abalone and Mother of Pearl are used for the position markers, top purfling and Wendy Larrivee designed Seahorse headstock inlay. The silver border around the headstock is a Tony Duggan-Smith element from this period. The tuners are black Schaller minis.
At one point this guitar had a pickup system installed which included three controls on the upper bass side. This has been removed, and rather than patch the holes, they have received metal ferrules and a small block to reinforce the sides.
