Here is a James Frieson Flamenco Negra classical guitar from 1988.
James Frieson is a respected builder, from Toronto and now living and building in Sapporo, Japan. Frieson began building in 1972 and soon met South American luthier Olivo Espin, and worked with him for five years, developing his skill and knowledge.
This guitar is built using traditional Spanish construction, where the sides fit into slots into the the heel before the top or fingerboard are installed. It’s been quite a bit of cosmetic wear and tear reflective of and instrument that has seen some playing, however it has plenty life left in it and sounds great. It has repaired top cracks below the fingerboard extension with four internal cleats and is stable. It plays well with a low and comfortable action and comes with a double arched hard shell case.
