Description
In production at FujiGen from 1994 50 2014, the Ibanez JS-1000BP was the seventh Ibanez Joe Satriani signature model, with this process starting in 1989! The 'BP' in this 2008 model name refers to the 'Black Pearl' finish.
This example dates to 2008 and was built at the FujiGen Head Office and Factory at Nagano, Japan along with other high end Team J-Craft models. It is good physical and playing condition, with minor cosmetic and play wear. Fret wear is very light, and it plays well at a relatively low action height. The backplate is included though not installed, however its mounting screws are missing.
The original molded black hard shell case is included and contains the back plate, manual, trem arm, and string bar.
Materials and Construction
The JS model body designs draw from the earlier Ibanez Radius models. The JS-1000, from the 2003–2009 series, pairs a Basswood body with a Maple neck with 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard, with dot shell position markers and a single-action truss rod.
Hardware and electronics include an Ibanez Edge Pro double locking trem system and Gotoh SG381 tuners.
DiMarzio pickups are used on this model, a FRED in the bridge position and a PAF in the neck.
The JS-1000 controls are visually simple - two knobs, master volume and tone, and one three way switch. However, the Master Volume and Tone controls both use push-pull pots. The Volume pot adds a high pass filter, the Tone pot adds a coil split.
Note about Serial Numbers
As is standard for Japanese-built Ibanez models from this period, the official serial number is located on the back of the headstock, while the metal neck plate features a separate factory hardware batch code.
