DESCRIPTION:
Here' s a new, old stock 2015 Hofner Gold Label Club Bass in solid red! The Club Bass is also known as the 500/2 - the 500/1 is the iconic violin shaped 'Beatle Bass'.
This is a 'Gold Label' model, one of a limited edition in custom colour. These models are built at the primary Hofner plant in Hagenau, Bavaria and are not always easy to find available for sale.
This Hofner Gold Label Club Bass is a 2015 model and is in as-new condition, and has never been sold; it's been in the stock of the distributor all this time. Like other Hofner Clubs, it's very comfortable to play and has a distinctive tone and feel.
The original Hofner hard shell case is included.
Here's the builder on the Hofner Gold Label and Club Bass history:
"Gold Label instruments are either individual pieces or very small runs, usually of no more than six pieces. We create Gold Label guitars and basses using special woods or paint finishes. They are exceptional instruments, all hand made in the workshops at Hagenau, Germany, by our master craftsmen. Some might say they are works of art.
The 500/2 Club Bass was introduced in 1964 as an alternative to the increasingly popular 500/1 Violin Bass. It was aimed at players who wanted the unique Höfner bass sound but who didn't want to look like Paul McCartney! The body had been in production since 1954 but only as a guitar. It was a fairly simple production decision to put the Violin Bass neck into a Club body and create a new product. The 500/2 Club bass today is still built in exactly the same way as in 1964 and uses the same components.
Many prefer the 500/2 Club Bass to the 500/1 Violin Bass as it offers a bigger body but produces almost identical tones - the legendary Höfner bottom end thump. With a fully hollow body and short scale (30") neck it is a light and easy bass to play. Available in Ignition, Contemporary and German built versions it remains a popular bass for those wanting that distinctive vintage sound."
