The Guild A-350 Stratford archtop guitar built from 1956 to 1973, was the acoustic version of the three-pickup X-350, which used DeArmond or Franz pickups. These classic archtop designs drew heavily from the experience of the Guild workforce as recent Epiphone employees.
This beautiful guitar is in good original condition with a few dings scratches and scuffing from honest use. Fretwear is light to moderate. It plays well, and is bright and clear with plenty of volume and projection.
A non-original hard shell case is included.
Materials and Construction
Built during 1968 with a Hoboken label (which may have been leftover and the guitar built in the new Westerly Rhode Island plant), this Guild A-350 Stratford features a 17 inch wide body with solid Spruce top, carved solid Maple back, solid Maple sides, three-piece Maple neck with Walnut center, and Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge. The block position markers and headstock logos are Mother of Pearl. To 1960, the fingerboard and bridge were Rosewood.
For hardware, there is a set of gold-plated Grover Roto-Matics are at the head, a gold-plated hinged Guild harp tailpiece at the body, and the Guild stair-step pickguard.
On the lower treble bout a nylon cable clip has been attached, suggesting that an add-on pickup was mounted at one time.
