Description
This Vintage Sunburst Gibson Memphis ES-335 was built during 2006 and is in very good, clean condition with a lovely figured Maple body and light fret wear.
This guitar, along with the other ES models built at the now-closed Memphis plant (2000-2019), is well built and plays very well.
The original black Gibson/TKL hard shell case with satin shroud and comfortable, vintage-style stitched leather-wrapped handle is included and contains a Gibson 10-46 string pack, picks, and the truss rod tool.
The Gibson ES-335 was immediately adopted by many players when introduced in 1958, as it addressed many real-world electric guitar issues primarily the problem of feedback with ever-increasing stage volumes. It also delivers a traditional hollow body type tone profile, and has great looks and balance.
Materials and Construction
Following the pattern from 1958, the Gibson Memphis ES-335 uses figured, laminated Maple for the top, back and sides, with a Maple center block to reduce feedback. Mahogany is used for the linings and neck, which has a bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. The headstock logo and crown inlays are Mother of Pearl.
Hardware is nickel-plated and includes a set of Grover Roto-Matics, an ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge, and stop tailpiece plus standard strap pins, bracket-mounted pick guard and black 'top hat' control knobs.
The electronics begin with a pair of '57 Classic humbuckers, followed by a factory Modern wiring harness with 500K CTS pots, 3-position toggle and output jack by Switchcraft.
