Here's a thing of real functional beauty: a Gibson ES-345 Premier Figured Faded Lightburst, based on a 1964 example and one of 150 examples built during 2016. This model is sometimes referred to as the "ES-345 ’64 Premier Figured" but the "64" did not appear on the Gibson materials or COA.
This fantastic guitar is in very good, complete and original condition, and shows minimal signs of play. The gold plating on the bass ends of the ABR bridge and stop tailpiece, and the pickup covers is in great shape -- those areas are the first to show wear.
This Gibson ES-345 Premier Figured Faded Lightburst uses a thermally treated Maple center block, Adirondack braces, and Maple-Poplar-Maple laminate for the top, back and sides. The neck is Mahogany with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard. The fingerboard binding is thin, and that leaves the 'nubs' at the ends of the frets very narrow producing an effective increase in actual playing surface compared to the 'standard' width binding. The Memphis plant where this was built also produced some models with no 'nubs', by fretting the fingerboard after, not before, binding it.
For hardware, the tuners are gold-plated Kluson Supreme models with plastic Keystone buttons, with a gold plated ABR bridge and stop tailpiece pair. The electronics start with a pair of MHS (or Memphis Historic Spec) Alnico II humbuckers. Standard Gibson wiring is next with independent volume and tone controls and a pickup selector; the Varitone follows and the last stop is a mono output jack.
Not just visually stunning, this guitar plays well and sounds great.
The original brown Gibson branded hard shell case is included and contains the COA, the original hang tags and polishing cloth, and a printout from the Gibson Legacy site with all the specs and details of this guitar.
Gibson introduced three variations of one new design in 1958, and all were immediate hits. The ES-335, ES-345 and ES-355 shared the same design concepts but had increasingly elaborate appointments. All were the ground-breaking thinline semi-hollow design that all but eliminated feedback, featuring a solid Maple center block and laminate maple for the top, back and sides. Parts were nickel plated. The ES-335 had dot position markers on a bound Rosewood fingerboard. The ES-345 received split parallelogram position markers and a six-position Varitone circuit. Metal parts were gold plated. The ES-355, top of the line, received block position markers on a bound Ebony fingerboard, headstock binding, the Varitone circuit *and* stereo outputs, and normally a Bigsby tailpiece (later replaced by Maestro Vibrola models). And again, metal parts were gold plated.
