Here is a Gibson ES-175 Hollowbody Electric guitar from 2012 with a lovely Sunburst gloss finish. The ES-175 was introduced in 1949 and rapidly became the workhorse guitar for countless jazz guitarists.
From 1949 to 1953, it had a single P-90 at the neck; for 1953 a second pickup was added to the bridge position and this dual-pickup model was named the ES-175D. In 1957, Gibson's new humbucking pickup started to appear in production instruments and replaced the P-90s in both ES-175 versions. Ultimately, this model went out of production in 2019.
The Gibson ES-175 construction follows Gibson's pattern for electric archtops, with laminate maple top and back for feedback resistance. Mahogany is used for the sides, body blocks and neck.
This example is in very good to excellent overall condition with hardly and play wear or fret wear. There is a piece of foam under the strings near the tailpiece to dampen vibration but it can easily be removed. It plays cleanly up the neck and comes with the original hardshell case.
