The Frank Brothers Arcade electric guitar is unusually well designed without being heavily influenced by the familiar classics.
Frank Brothers Guitars is based in Toronto Canada and is run by three brothers who have been in business since 2014.
This Frank Brothers Arcade in a very well done gloss Burgundy Mist nitrocellulose lacquer finish dates to August 17, 2022. It's in very good clean condition, well built with good attention to detail, and uses top quality hardware. This example doesn't appear to have been played much, with very light wear to the frets and finish.
The original brown G&G hard shell case with Frank Brothers plaque is included and contains the Certificate of Authenticity which doubles as the specifications list, a practice others could adopt!
Materials and Construction
The Frank Brothers Arcade comes in several configurations. The body on this 2022 model, identified simply as 'Arcade' on the Certificate of Authenticity uses a Maple cap on a chambered Mahogany core and back. This is visible through the clear electronics access panels on the back, including a small space between the top and core sections. The neck, with a set tenon join, is Mahogany with a vintage Martin style diamond headstock reinforcement. The head plate and bound fingerboard are Macassar Ebony, and the fingerboard is fitted with 22 Jescar 51108 medium jumbo frets. The parallelogram position markers and engraved Frank Brothers headstock logo are Mother of Pearl.
Hardware starts with a set of Kluson Deluxe vintage style tuners with creme plastic buttons, a bone nut, an ABR-1 wireless tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece, and Schaller style strap locks.
Electronics feature a pair of Seymour Duncan Antiquity P-90 pickups, 500K CTS audio taper pots, a NOS Soviet era (!) 0.015mF capacitor and a short-frame Switchcraft toggle. The wiring is very clean, as it must be since the covers are clear. The pickguard is a single layer white plastic, matching the P90 covers and control knobs. Interestingly, the mounting screws are slotted flat head, a departure from the domed Phillips head screws used since the mid 1950's on most guitars.
