Description
A truly beautiful instrument in excellent condition all around, this Fender Custom Shop Deluxe Strat NOS pairs a Birds-Eye Maple neck with a Translucent Black finish over a Quilted Maple top, and dates to August of 2016.
The COA identifies this guitar as "Cst Dlx Stratocaster NOS" with a date of 08/10/16 or Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Corona, California.
There is very little wear of any kind on the guitar or its case. There are hints of being played on the rosewood fingerboard. With a small amount of cleanup this guitar could look completely new, save for the (removed) plastic films on the pickguard and backplate plastics.
The original and excellent black rectangular Fender Custom Shop hard shell case by G&G is included. The case contains the original case candy - the COA, cord, hang tags, polish cloth, bridge cover, trem arm and alternate backplate.
Materials and Construction
The NOS "New Old Stock" line appeared in 2009. NOS often suggests 'Vintage' but these instruments are not, and are perhaps an 'Anti-Relic' option with modern configurations.
This Fender Custom Shop Deluxe Strat NOS is built with a Quilted-Maple topped Alder body and Birds-Eye Maple neck with slab-style 22-fret 9.5 inch radius Indian Rosewood fingerboard bearing Narrow-Tall frets. The 'Skunk Stripe' is Walnut.
Electronics include a set of A hand-wound Custom Shop '60s Single-Coil Strat pickups, with the center being RW/RP for noise cancellation in the 2 and 4 switch positions. The tone controls are wired to include the bridge pickup in the lower tone pot. This is a simple modification for any vintage-style Strat not wired this way.
For hardware, the neck plate carries the serial number and is otherwise un-stamped. The tuners are a set of Fender 'screwless' sealed tuners. These excellent parts have a pair of locating pins on the gear housing so there are no exposed screws. Modern Fender staggered-post locking tuners can be a drop-in replacement, should faster string changes be desired.
The pickguard is an 11-screw, three layer style in a slightly creamy white. The backplate is single-layer.
