Description
The Fender 1964 Journeyman Relic Stratocaster sports a lightly reliced but very faded Sonic Blue lacquer finish and narrow-tall frets. This is a very comfortable guitar that sounds and feels as good as it looks. Wear is very light, aside from the relic treatment!
Sold with its original black Fender branded hard shell case, containing the Certificate of Authenticity, backplate, trem arm, bridge cover and hang tags.
Construction and Materials
Following the original design and materials, the Fender 1964 Journeyman Relic Stratocaster pairs a light weight Alder body with a Maple neck and thick, round-laminated, 9.5 inch radius Indian Rosewood fingerboard with 21 narrow-tall frets. The original 1964 fingerboards might well have been Brazilian Rosewood; Fender shifted to Indian Rosewood in 1965.
The hardware is vintage style with an aged patina. Vintage Kluson style Saf-T-Post tuners are a natural pair with the vintage style six-screw bridge. The pickguard is a three-ply Parchment with 11 screws.
The electronics consist of three Custom Shop Hand-Wound '64 Single-Coil Strat pickups, a five-position switch, master volume, tone controls for the neck and middle pickups, and an output jack. It's a simple modification to add the bridge pickup to the lower tone control.
