Shown here is a Deering Eagle II 5-String Banjo, built during 2013 and in good clean condition. These are excellent, professional quality instruments with top-line components. You can pay more for a banjo, even a lot more, but unless it's a vintage instrument the price difference will mostly be for decoration. These banjos deliver!
This Deering Eagle II 5-String Banjo features a Maple ply rim, Maple laminate resonator, and Maple neck with Ebony fingerboard and engraved Mother of Pearl inlay set. The tone ring, key to the sound of the banjo, is the Twenty Ten ring, which as the name hints was introduced in 2010. The metal parts are nickel plated.
At the neck heel on the bass side and near the volute, the finish is somewhat cloudy or 'milky'. This is usually caused by slightly high humidity while the finish is applied. There is no finish delamination, and the banjo is currently 15 years old, so this appears to be entirely cosmetic. Otherwise, fret and finish wear are light. There is some light clothing scuffing to the back of the resonator.
The original Deering-branded hard shell case is included.
