Here it is – the Beard JD Blackbeard Jerry Douglas Signature Resonator Guitar. A cosmetically stripped down version of the Beard Jerry Douglas Signature model, the Beard JD Blackbeard features the E model body built with solid mahogany top, back, sides and neck and a very interesting translucent black finish.
The Beard JD Blackbeard is based on Jerry Douglas’ memory of a black 1928 entry-level Dobro with a red fingerboard, the first ‘authentic’ Dobro he held when he was 12 and just learning to play. The JD Blackbeard reflects the values of that guitar – simple and unadorned, yet fully capable of producing astounding tone and volume.
Jerrry Douglas is an incredibly versatile and hard-working player. He’s been on well over a thousand recordings and soundtracks, been presented with 14 Grammy Awards. He plays with many top artists including Alison Kraus, Elvis Costello, J D Crowe, James Taylor, T Bone Burnette, Mumford and Sons, and has his own bands. While he is well known for his acoustic resophonic playing, he is also an avid electric lap steel player.
