Description
Built in Ferreirola near Granada, Spain, this excellent condition 2012 Andres D. Marvi Concert Classical features a Western Red Cedar top and Indian Rosewood body.
The serial number is 295c which represents the 295th instrument built in Marvi's workshop, and the 'c' designates a Cedar top. Overall, the build quality is very high.
The finish is a French Polish and is in excellent clean condition with very light wear. This fine instrument has been well cared for, and does not show signs of extensive playing. Its voice is full and rich but as with most lightly played guitars will open and mature with use.
Sold with a Cibeles case, containing the case key and a polishing cloth.
Materials and Construction
This beautiful guitar is built following the Spanish style centering around the 'slipper heel' that integrates the neck and sides. The top is Red Cedar, braced with European Spruce. The sides and back are Indian Rosewood, with a Spruce center strip and Spanish Cedar braces. The linings - kerfed for the top and solid for the back - are Spanish Cedar. The neck and integrated block are Spanish Cedar with an Ebony stiffener, topped with an Ebony fingerboard. The head plate and bridge are Indian Rosewood.
In terms of hardware, the tuners are Alessi Hauser style with gold coloured plates and black buttons. Bone is used for the nut, saddle and tie block edges.
About Andres D. Marvi
After performing as an accomplished classical guitarist, Andres D. Marvi devoted himself to handcrafting guitars to develop his own distinctive sound. In 1984, he studied under master luthier José Luis Romanillos during a guitar building course in Zurich. Following this, he passed his formal guitar manufacturing exam in Erlangen, Germany in 1985.
Since 1988, Marvi has lived and crafted instruments in the scenic mountain village of Ferreirola, located in the La Taha region near Granada, Spain. He is widely recognized as a premier luthier of concert classical, flamenco, and traditional Torres-style guitars.
