Here is a Vega Style M Tenor Banjo from the mid 1920’s. A classic from the golden age of banjo craftsmanship, this model is a superb example of Vega’s legendary quality and tone. Built by Vega in Boston, likely in the 1920s, this instrument showcases the Tubaphone tone ring, prized for its rich, articulate tone with excellent projection and clarity favored by jazz and traditional musicians.
With its original maple rim and neck, elegant inlays, and period-correct hardware, this instrument is both a player’s dream and a collector’s piece. Interestingly it features a Wurlitzer tag inside the rim, indicating it was distributed through the renowned Wurlitzer Company, one of the largest music retailers of the era.
Overall, it is in good condition, it plays reasonably well, however it would benefit from a professional setup in the future. It comes with a period correct hardshell case which has been re-lined.
