This PRS SC-245 10 Top in dark cherry sunburst is a thing of beauty, in very good clean and original condition. The SC-245 model has been in and out of production twice, from 2007 to 2009 and then 2013 to 2016.
Here we're looking at a first-year PRS SC-245 10 Top, built during 2007 in Stevensville, Maryland. Based on the Singlecut body design, this guitar has a spectacular, highly figured bookmatched Quilted Maple top on a Mahogany back. The neck is Mahogany with an unbound 24.5 inch scale Indian Rosewood fingerboard, Abalone bird inlays and 'Wide Fat' neck carve. For hardware, there are vintage Kluson-style non-locking tuners and the McCarty stop-tail bridge/tailpiece used in the first production model. The second production model used a two piece, tune-o-matic and stop tailpiece set.
Electronics include a pair of 57/08 pickups, 3-way toggle switch and individual volume and tone controls, and a side-mounted output jack.
This example is in great condition with negligible wear. It plays well, and the neck heel carve definitely helps with upper register access.
The original rectangular G&G style hard shell case is included.
Here's the builder on the PRS SC-245 10 Top:
"The Paul Reed Smith SC245 is a vintage-inspired Singlecut perfect for more traditional single-cutaway players. The 24.5” scale length offers a loose, laid-back feel, but the guitar maintains a tight low end and snappy attack. With 57/08 pickups delivering vintage humbucking tone and clear, detailed chords, and the electronics layout of two volume and tone controls, and a 3-way toggle switch on the upper bout, the SC245 is instantly comfortable for players who grew up using short-scale guitars."
