The new Nechville Atlas Deluxe Openback Banjo is the latest creation from Tom Nechville, one of the most innovative banjo makers in the world.
The Atlas Deluxe takes the standard Atlas model to a whole new level. It is fitted with the Nechville Phantom style tunnelled 5th string where the string passes inside of the neck to reach the 5th string tuner on the peghead, offering full neck access without the obstruction of the standard 5th string. The additional upgrade of the special rolling 5th string nut ensures stable and accurate tuning.
The 12 inch rim is aged walnut built in the “block rim” style to ensure maximum strength and mass without the glue pockets common to laminated rims. The walnut unit-tone ring ensures a fat, warm wood-ring tone. Fitted with a Renaissance head, the closest in response and tone to a calf skin head without the service issues.
The neck is black walnut with a 7-12” compound radius fretboard and dressed up with the Nechville Saturn & Stars inlay package. Peghead is the new Symmetrical Headstock and fitted with 15:1 ratio professional-grade, guitar tuners.
Featured at the neck to body joint is the famous Nechville Partial-Thumb-Scoop for frailing banjo styles.
