Drawing inspiration from the Dresden school and historical lute traditions, this 2010 model embodies Thames’ commitment to historical accuracy and tonal excellence.

Constructed with a Engleman spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides, the instrument offers a resonant, clear voice with exceptional sustain and deep, sympathetic bass response. The extended 13-string configuration includes six fretted strings and seven additional bass strings, tuned diatonically or chromatically, allowing for authentic interpretations of works by Bach, Weiss, and other baroque composers.

Michael Thames, known for his scholarly approach and deep respect for historical instruments, designed this guitar to bridge the expressive range of the baroque lute with the playability of the classical guitar.
