The Martin D-16GT was built from 1999 to 2019 and like the workhorse D-18 uses the dreadnought body design. It pairs a Sitka Spruce top with Mahogany for the back, sides, body blocks and neck. The 'GT' references a Gloss Top finish - the rest of the guitar's finish is satin.
On these models, the fingerboard and bridge are Richlite, and the head plate is Granadillo.
Shown here is a Martin D-16GT built during 2008 and in good original condition. Fret wear is light. The top has a number of small wear and pick marks, and the back also has a few small pressure marks.
The top is Sitka Spruce, with a Herringbone purfling ring as the centerpiece of the rosette. The faux-tortoise pickguard is fixed to the finish, not the top, a move away from traditional construction practice to prevent a top crack common to older models.
The original black hard shell case is included.
