The Hofner Club Bass Sunburst, 2006 also known as the Hofner 500/2 bass, is very similar in design to the iconic 500/1 Beatle Bass, but with a traditional single cutaway 'Club' body. Originally built between 1965 and 1970 for Selmer, the Club bass has had a number of prominent appearances on stages; Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads used one for several tours.
Like the violin bass, the Hofner Club Bass is a short-scale (30 inch) hollow body instrument. The easy reach and light weight, added to the practical Club single cutaway body shape, make it an extremely comfortable instrument.
Of course, the Club Bass sounds and plays like a Hofner bass. The hollow body adds a rounded edge to both the attack and decay.
This example of the reissued Club Bass dates to 2006 and was built at Hagenau, Bavaria, Germany. It's in overall very good condition with only very light wear. Fretwear is light - it is strung with flatwounds, which are very easy on frets. It plays very well, the light weight is a real treat along with its classic tone.
A Bullitt aluminum case is included.
