Description
This Godin Montreal was built during 2009 as a semi-hollow guitar intended primarily for Jazz and blues, with a name inspired by the annual Montreal Jazz Festival. This versatile, well thought out instrument is in good condition, plays well and has a wide range of useful tones.
This version of the Montreal line was discontinued some time ago and the current Montreal Premiere is a fully hollow, set neck design.
Materials and Construction
The instrument is built using a chambered Mahogany body with a carved mahogany top, with a pair of F-holes. The bolt-on neck is solid Mahogany with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard. The finish is gloss poly with a light Mahogany tint.
Hardware and Electronics
At the head, a set of Godin-branded, gold finished locking tuners are installed. The bridge is a height-adjustable, tune-o-matic style with piezo element saddles. The strings load through the rear and ramp up to the saddles.
For electronics, the Godin Montreal sports a combination of standard magnetic humbucking pickups and an LR Baggs six-element piezo bridge pickup. These feed to a a custom preamp and two outputs - one electric, one acoustic (or Mixed if only that jack is used). The controls include a master volume, master tone and a blend control for the magnetic and piezo pickups. The piezo volume and three-band EQ controls are by the neck.
