Built by Cliff Fitch, this is a Fitch Masters Five Banjo Sunburst - bluegrass style five string banjo built during 2007 near Forth Worth, Texas. It is in very good overall condition with expected play wear, and light to moderate fret wear in the low positions.
Using the Mastertone 5-string concepts, the Fitch Masters Five features a figured Maple resonator covering a stained Maple rim. The neck is also Flamed Maple with a bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard sporting the 'Flying Eagle' inlay set and four capo tacks, and there is a Walnut arm rest.
This Fitch Masters Five banjo is sold with its original TKL-made hard shell case.
Fitch Banjos were built in the Fort Worth, Texas area from 1995 to 2009, when Cliff Fitch retired. During that time, he built 85 5-string banjos, primarily in the Gibson Master Tone style. He sold his last completed banjo in 2010 after the official closing of his shop.
Cliff Fitch had a number of interests, was a licenced funeral director and operated a mortuary transport company. Playing bluegrass since the age of 15, he was a founding member of the board of directors of the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation.
