DESCRIPTION:
The Fender Stratocaster Made in Japan 'ST-357V' Black, 1987 seen here comes from the interesting but short period of Fender history when the company had no production facilities of their own.
CBS sold the Fender company to a group of executives in 1985, but the deal did not include the Fullerton facilities, jigs or tools. New facilities were opened in Corona in 1987 and in the meantime, there was no US production of Fender guitars - they all came from Japan and were high quality.
Made in Japan by FujiGen Gakko in 1986 or 87, this black, Maple Neck Stratocaster has ST-357 markings on the heel, indicating that it's a Stratocaster, 57 vintage reissue neck. This lovely example of later-80's Fender Japan production is in overall good shape with light marking around the body from honest play wear. Fret wear is light and the guitar is in quite playable condition.
This guitar was built by FujiGen Gakki in Matsumoko, Nagoya Prefecture in late 1986 or into 1987. The build and finish qualities are high. The guitar is in all original condition except for the addition of a Fender TBX tone control.
Sold with a non-original but much superior Hiscox LiteFlite Strat-sized hard shell case, a huge plus as these cases can run into several hundred dollars.
