The Fender Ritchie Blackmore Stratocaster honours one of the most influential 1970's guitarists and features a scalloped Rosewood fingerboard.
This Fender Ritchie Blackmore Stratocaster dates to April of 2014 and was built at Ensenada, Mexico. It's in very good condition with very light play wear. This guitar was built with Dunlop style locking strap pins, inset into the body.
Sold with its original Fender Deluxe Gig Bag containing the warranty cards, QC check card and hang tags.
Fingerboard scalloping is not new, though for electric guitars it is fairly rare. Successful use requires a fair amount of skill and muscular control to avoid accidentally stretching notes sharp. Blackmore based his scalloping on the European lutes he also played. For many players, use of jumbo frets can provide much of the same effects, primarily a much better connection between the strings and fingers.
The Fender Ritchie Blackmore Stratocaster features custom electronics. As a 70's style Stratocaster, it is set up for three single coils, but here the neck and bridge pickups are Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder flat-pole single coils while the middle - is a dummy, just a placeholder empty cover! Consequently, a three-way pickup switch is used. A master volume and two tone controls follow, with the upper tone affecting the neck pickup and the lower control the bridge pickup.
The Rosewood fingerboard has a graduated scalloping, reflecting the changes Blackmore made to his Strats since the early 1970's.
Sold with its original Fender Deluxe Gig Bag, containing QC cards and hang tags.
Here's the builder on the Fender Ritchie Blackmore Stratocaster:
"A pioneering master of neo-classical heavy rock, metal godfather Ritchie Blackmore is the man who gave the world the most imitated Stratocaster riff ever ("Smoke on the Water"), and his deft phrasing and unmistakable tone helped make the extended guitar solo an essential art form in itself. The Ritchie Blackmore Stratocaster is based on his favorite '70s model and puts artful Blackmore Strat® style in your hands with distinctive features and modifications, including a graduated fingerboard scalloping, special pickups and more."
