DESCRIPTION:
Here is a Fender Custom Shop 'Blackie' Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster which was built during 2008 and is in great original condition. This model, introduced in 2004 and built by a team (as distinct from one master builder) features an Alder body and soft-V 22-fret, 9.5 inch radius Maple neck, with a Custom Shop logo and Clapton signature above 'Blackie' on the back of the head. For electronics, a set of Fender Noiseless pickups feed through a 5-way switch, master volume, TBX tone control, and active mid boost - the battery is located under the trem cavity cover.
The association between Fender and Eric Clapton formally began in 1987 with an endorsement deal. Soon, models referencing Clapton's guitars started appearing and there have been a number of iterations, from guitars following his current, changing requirements to exact copies of the original Blackie (with flight case!).
This Fender 'Blackie' example is in great shape and plays well. Wear is minimal all around, and it does not appear to have been used on gigs; the thin protective plastic layer is still on the trem cavity cover. Fret wear is light and the soft-V neck is very comfortable. There are a couple of minor scuffs and light buckle rash on the body finish, but no chipping. The electronics setup provides a wide range of tones and up to 25db boost.
The original tweed G&G hard shell case is included, and contains the Certificate of Authenticity, basic manuals, bridge cover and cloth.
