James Trussart has revolutionized guitar making by using steel to create visually striking and sonically unique instruments. Originally from France, Trussart transitioned from playing Cajun fiddle music to crafting guitars and violins in the 1980s. Based in Los Angeles, he has been designing custom steel-bodied guitars, basses, and violins in an array of unique finishes since 2000. 

This example is a single cutaway hollow steel body with a plain front and perforated back. The finish incorporates Trussart’s distinctive "Rust-O-Matic" technique that involves exposing the guitar to the elements to induce corrosion before finishing, giving the instrument a vintage appearance and a unique texture. It has a bolt-on maple neck with a recessed steel head cap, which gives mass to the headstock and gives the instrument some enhanced sustain. The neck profile is a standard '59 shape, with a vintage cream, ivoroid bound, rosewood fingerboard, which is radiused and houses medium jumbo frets. Hardware and electronics include a Tune-O-Matic bridge, two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way toggle switch. It is equipped with Standard Arcane Inc. humbuckers. These are a tonal clone of a vintage P.A.F. pickup and give out a thick resonance with lots of mid range, perfect for rock and blues. Overall this instrument is in very good condition with very little play wear. It plays well with the action currently set low. It comes with a James Trussart signed Certificate of Authenticity and a high-quality G&G® Hard Case.
