Seen here is a Rickenbacker Model 325v63 in Jetglo finish - gloss black - built during 1998 at Santa Ana, California. It is in overall very good, clean and original condition and plays well. Fret wear is light and the finish has been well protected. The guitar is currently strung with a 12-52 flatwound set, which work well for the short 21 inch scale length, and are similar to what would have been used in the early 1960's.
The Rickenbacker Model 325v63 was built from 1985 to 2001 and evokes the 1963 version of this classic short-scale guitar. With a 21 inch scale and a weight just under seven pounds, the Model 325v63 allows for 'big' chord voicings and in a small space!
The body is chambered Maple with a set-in Maple neck. The fingerboard is identified on the Rickenbacker site as 'Rosewood' but John Hall, owner of the company said in 1999:
"We use both African Rosewood and Bubinga, which are very similar close relatives. Both are also classified as Hong Kong Rosewood sometimes, which is closer to the mark, since it is grown in Asia rather than Africa."
For hardware, the headstock carries a set of vintage style tuners, with an Accent vibrato tailpiece and six saddle non-roller bridge with cover at the body. The pickguards are the characteristic two-level white plexi style. There are three vintage 'Toaster Top' pickups and the Ric 5-control layout - pickup selector, two volume and tone controls, and a 'blend' knob to adjust the amount of neck and middle pickup in the center switch position. In the switch center and 'up' position, the neck and middle pickups are both on. This model has one jack for 'Mono' output. The wiring schematic diagram can be viewed here.
The original rectangular silver Rickenbacker branded hard shell case is included.
