We discovered Newtone Archtop Double Wound Strings in the early 1990s. This small British string manufacturing firm sent us a few samples and we were in love! We remain convinced that they are the finest strings made.
Newtone strings are a truly handmade string, built one at a time to Malcolm Newton’s exacting standards.
A Double wrap of nickel over a round core gives these strings a unique feel and sound. They are warm and mellow without the string squeal of single wrap strings.
Newtone Strings is led by owner and master craftsman Malcolm Newton. With a background in coal mining, lineman work, and manufacturing wire rope and heavy cable, Newton finally discovered his calling when he started producing top-quality guitar and mandolin strings in the 1980s.
