This Martin D-28 was built during 1972 and at some point met Joni Mitchell, who signed the top along with a promotional photograph, which is in the case.
This example dates to 1972 and is in overall good condition. It has also just had a neck reset at The Twelfth Fret repair shop and is ready for another few decades of play.
Sold with its black Martin branded, molded hard shell case, which contains an autographed promotional photograph of Joni Mitchell.
The Martin D-28 was introduced in 1931 with a 12-fret neck, gaining the now ubiquitous 14-fret neck in 1934. It features a Spruce top paired with Rosewood for the back sides and head plate, Mahogany for the body blocks, linings and neck, and Ebony for the bridge and un-bound fingerboard. The precise species of woods used has varied over time; to the early days of WW2, the Spruce used was Adirondack, and generally Sitka after 1943. The Rosewood used was sourced from Brazil until the mid 1960's, replaced by Indian Rosewood.
