Built around February of 2015, this Martin D-18GE 1934 Golden Era Dreadnought sports an Adirondack Spruce top and a Natural finish with an aged-toner top treatment.
Martin's Golden Era D-18 models were first built during 1995 and based on a 1937 model. From 1999 to 2016, they were based on a 1934 model, and then replaced by the Authentic series.
The Golden Era series presented the best features of instruments in that era, as distinct from being exact reproductions of specific guitars. Two notable departures from true 'Vintage Spec' are an adjustable truss rod and that the pickguard is affixed to the finish, not the top. This change to the pickguard mount prevents the classic top crack between the pickguard and bridge. The finish is gloss with a light amber aged toner for the top, and the head plate has a satin finish.
This Martin D-18GE 1934 is in very good, clean and all original condition pairing an Adirondack Spruce top with Mahogany for the sides, back, and V-profile neck. The headstock overlay is Brazilian Rosewood. The bridge and fingerboard are Ebony, with Abalone dot fingerboard position markers. The tuners are Waverly models with metal 'butterbean' buttons.
This is a lovely guitar with a great sound as is; the almost complete lack of wear indicates that has hardly been played, and its voice has not fully developed.
There are some sections of slight, humidity related lacquer delamination at the back binding, and otherwise there is essentially no wear of any kind.
This guitar is sold with its original Martin Geib-style case, also in very good condition.
