DESCRIPTION:
The Ernie Ball Music Man EVH model was built from 1991 to 1995, but its life began earlier, and the design lived on with slight changes as the still-produced and quite successful Axis.
Here we're looking at a an Ernie Ball Music Man EVH in Translucent Red, recently serviced at The Twelfth Fret repair shop; it received a fret dress and full setup and plays very well. The trem system is set for pitch drops, with only enough upward motion to prevent a knock against the top when the bar is released.
Like other EBMM / EVH models, the body is black-finished Basswood with a bookmatched, red-tinted figured Maple top and just visible by the tail is a '5150' stencil. The neck is a single piece of figured Maple with a finish-matched Red headstock, 4+2 tuner layout with Schaller M6La tuners with pearloid buttons and oiled finish on the entire playing area. The wheel-type truss rod adjuster is accessible at the body end, without removing any obstructions or covers. The pickups are a pair of custom diMarzio humbuckers, and the electronics consist of a selector switch and master volume control. Of course, it has a Music Man branded Floyd Rose locking trem system.
Overall this instrument is in good condition, showing clear signs of having been used as intended. There are a number of small dings and dents, and some hardware tarnish, all from genuine use. The volume control knob, labeled 'Tone', has a small crack. This is an ordinary Stratocaster type push-on knob. The rear trem spring access plate still has the original protective plastic film!
The original black rectangular hard shell case is included and contains the original warranty card (in Japanese) and EBMM Specifications book.
