The body is built with Mahogany laminate for the top, and Walnut for the back, sides and 12-fret neck. Some models used laminate Spruce for the top, but this one is laminate Mahogany.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 2010, the Model D was replaced by the wood-bodied Smith \u0026amp; Young Model 11. National discontinued the Smith \u0026amp; Young line around 2015.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis National Model D is dated to 2001 based on a comparison with other Model D’s with numerically close serial numbers and was built at the National shop in San Luis Obispo, California. It is in overall good condition with some minor wear to the finish and there is a small neck gap at the heel.
