{"product_id":"joi-custom-jm-by-reuben-forsland-moon-spruce-waterfall-bubinga-2016-used","title":"JOI Custom JM by Reuben Forsland, Moon Spruce \/ Waterfall Bubinga (2016)  [USED]","description":"\u003cp\u003eHere is a definite rarity — a long scale JOI Guitars Custom JM pairing Moon Spruce and Waterfall Bubinga, built late 2016 by Reuben Forsland on Vancouver Island.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUsing a modified Jumbo body size and shape with a Venetian cutaway and Laskin armrest, this spectacular instrument delivers an enormous serving of sonic richness and complexity in a clear, well projected voice.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis guitar has an unusually long 25.75 inch (654mm) scale length and a body depth that ranges from nearly four inches to almost five, producing enormous low frequency response. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReuben Forsland has a one-person shop on Vancouver Island, and builds custom instruments of exceptional quality using exotic, beautiful materials, and proprietary bracing systems.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSold with its original grey hard shell, JOI branded case containing an instrument care document, keys and a JOI-branded soft plastic sheet intended to protect the top during string changes.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eMaterials and Construction\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile this guitar is built using a number of standard material and building techniques, Forsland also uses unique bracing patterns.   The top is Alpine Moon Spruce, which describes a way of harvesting rather than a species.   Moon wood is harvested from higher altitudes during the late part of a waning moon, and in late fall or winter when the tree is dormant.  The rosette consists of a three-segment veneer inlay between two purfling rings. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe sides, back and neck are Waterfall Bubinga.  Bubinga is sometimes referred to as 'African Rosewood' and the 'Waterfall' term describes a type of intense figure within the wood, which is very evident here!  The semi-kerfed top and bottom linings and body blocks may also be Bubinga, but without the figuring.  The neck joint is a modern style with a mortise, tenon and a single bolt, allowing a much simpler process for a neck reset when that is eventually necessary.  The fingerboard is ebony with small concentric-circle position markers and side dots.  The bridge is Ebony.  The strings load from the rear of the bridge,  and a plastic guard is provided to protect the top.  The nut and saddle are bone and well fitted.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor hardware, the tuners are a Graph-Tech Ratio set in black.  There are no electronics!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ctable style=\"width: 100%;
