Though common in instrument making until the early 1930s, walnut was largely phased out as tropical hardwoods became more accessible.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis Brian Kuzik classical guitar draws from and is constructed in Spanish building styles, with the sides slotting into the heel block rather than using a dovetail or tenon joint. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHere, the builder pairs a Spruce-braced Western Red Cedar top with Black Walnut for the sides, back, neck and the tail block.  The linings are Spanish Cedar (Cedrela odorata), with Ebony used for the head plate, fingerboard, bridge and body binding.  The top is braced in a style sometimes used by Manuel Ramirez, with a treble cut-off brace, six fans and an under-bridge plate.
